Releasing your faith

5 Steps to releasing your faith

We are approaching Holy Week, the Season Christ laid down his life for the the World. Sometimes when we look back at scripture we have a tendency to forget the struggles believers endured during those days. It took great faith to believe in Jesus Christ and they believed. As Christians we might find God places us in situations that require a great deal of faith. You may feel fear and doubt, but when you release your faith and you speak to “yonder mountains,” or those things that are towering in the distance, that seem nearly impossible, they will move when you put your faith in Jesus Christ. Overseer Ragland points to scripture and gives us 5-simple steps to release our faith in God.

Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest. Luke 10:2

1. Touch

When Jesus heard it, he marveled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

add scripture

Luke 8:43-45 tells the story of the women with a 12 year ailment who, when the opportunity presented itself, reached out and made a connection with Jesus. She stepped out in faith, despite the way she felt and the throng from the crowd to touch the hem of his garment. In that moment she was instantly healed. When you reach out and make an undeniable touch with God, He is guaranteed to feel you.

2. Demand

When Jesus heard it, he marveled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. Matthew 8:10

And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. Matthew 8:5-9

Matthew 8 5:13 is the story of the centurion who approached Jesus in Capernaum. He was a leader of a Battalion who had compassion on his servant, the servant had been sick with the palsy. When Jesus turned to go to the centurion’s home, he said to Jesus, “…speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.”  Matt 8:8.   The centurion understood an insistent peremptory request required nothing more than a demand on the Word.  Pull on the authority of Christ and release your faith by proclaiming an insistent peremptory demand.

3. Launch

Launch out and motion your faith!

“But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.  Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No.  And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes. “

In John 21:6 the disciples, who were fisherman by trade toiled all night long, but the hadn’t caught any fish. Early in the morning Jesus stood on the shore watching. When they brought the boat back to shore, Jesus asked them if they’d caught anything and when they said ‘no’ he told them to cast their net on the “right side.”  The disciples released their faith when the cast their nets out into the water and they received a great catch. It wasn’t the net that allowed them to have a great catch, rather it was the faith they had placed in Jesus Christ.  We must release the faith we have in Christ by casting out our net.  Sometimes it is difficult to cast out your net, especially if your prior returns were less than you anticipated, but keep casting your net in Faith.

4. Speak the Word only

ADD SCRIPTURE

And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.  And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.  And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him, Saying, what wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight.  And Jesus said unto him, receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.  And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.

5. Cast out your net

As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread. John 21:9

But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.  Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No.  And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.

In John 21:6 the disciples, who by trade were fisherman, toiling all night long.  They caught nothing and when Jesus asked them a few questions, one answer was, “they toiled all night and caught nothing.”  Jesus told them to cast their net on the “right side.”  Release your faith, cast your net.  Jesus told them to through out their faith and get ready for the return.  It wasn’t the net they were throwing for a great catch, rather they were releasing their faith in Jesus Christ.  We must release the faith we have in God by casting out our net.
